Key Industries

Key industries in Texas are determined by the industry cluster initiative – a long-term, strategic job creation plan that concentrates state economic development efforts on six industry clusters. The initiative began in 2004 at the urging of Governor Perry who touts the program as "a coordinated, market-driven economic development strategy that focuses on areas where we have the greatest growth potential and focuses on fostering that potential."
